The MDA Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) is a Multiple Award IDIQ (MAC IDIQ) contract through which the Missile Defense Agency acquires an advanced, multi-domain defense capability to detect, track, intercept, and negate ballistic, hypersonic, cruise missile, and other advanced aerial threats to the U.S. homeland, deployed forces, and allies across all phases of flight. All substantive work is competed at the task/delivery-order level under FAR 16.505 fair opportunity procedures. SHIELD covers a broad set of work areas, including science and technology, research and development, prototyping, systems engineering, weapon design, integration, production and fielding, test and evaluation, sustainment, and cybersecurity, supporting both classified and unclassified efforts across multiple security domains.
